You missed out a crucial part of the story. As per Radha Sloss’s book, the theosophical ‘masters’ were apparently telling him and Leadbeater that his brother would heal. They were on a boat at the time and because of that he decided not to go and see his brother.
Then when his brother did in fact die, he realised the psychic messages were false — That their state of mind was false, because I understand even he thought he was getting psychic messages that it was all fine.
The pain of his dear brother’s death woke him wide awake.
That was a huge part of why Krishnamurti became what he became.
Krishnamurti was telling everyone the problems with all beliefs and no one really got the message. It went way beyond rejecting Theosophy > He was rejecting the entire human thing.
He was rejecting the cult he spent his youth in in the same way I have.
I was raised in a cult that was created as the result of theosophy — Once Blavatsky made ‘channeling’ popular, for a century and a half following, many others fancied themselves doing the same, and they also wanted to be the ‘special’ ones. You wonder why she had so much influence? Because this way of being is a key nature of human beings. We are very imperfect beings, having influence over such beings is no measure of validity.
